Gathering of Angels: Angels in Jewish Life and Literature, By: Morris B. Margolies

It is often thought that angels are not a part of Jewish tradition, but are rather an aspect of Christian tradition. This, of course is not true, most clearly evidenced by references to angels in the Bible as well as in the daily liturgy. In A Gathering of Angels, Rabbi Morris Margolies offers an in depth exploration of angels in Jewish life and literature.

Morris B. Margolies, a professor of Judaic studies at the University of Kansas and a former congregational rabbis, takes a scholarly, almost wissenschaft approach to the subject of angels. He provides a fairly comprehensive review of the appearance of angels in all the major periods of Jewish history. In addition he gives the historical background for all of the texts he mentions and explores the context of each document.
