A Home For G-d What does it mean to make our world a home for G-d? A basic tenet of our faith is that "the entire world is filled with His presence" and "there is no place void of Him." So it's not that we have to bring G-d into the material world -- He is already there. But G-d can be in the world without being at home in it. Being "at home" means being in a place that is receptive to your presence, a place devoted to serving your needs and desires. It means being in a place where you are your true, private self, as opposed to the public self you assume in other environments.

How to buy Tefillin
Consult a reliable Rabbi

How much should you spend?

Spend as much as you can afford.  I once had a man come into the store and tell me he wanted to buy Tefillin and didn't want to spend more than $50.

I asked him would he buy a car for $50 and drive it from Denver to New York?
he replied, "No".
I asked, "Why"
He replied, "Because the car isn't reliable..."

Now, if $50 is all you can afford and you have to make the trip then probably the $50 is worth it... however, if car isn't reliable and you wouldn't drive it on a trip from Denver to New York, then how much more should you take care of your life in this world and your eternal soul?

Price might be one factor on what you buy however, also consider if the Tefillin fits you.  Is it comfortable to wear?  Consider buying the best straps you can afford.

The tefillin on our arms is near the heart to control the lusts and thoughts of our hearts and redirect them towards performing the Service we are commanded to perform for God, Whose Name is blessed. The tefillin on our heads is near the brain, so that the spiritual elements in our brains, as well as our senses and all our abilities, should all be controlled and redirected towards performing the Service we are commanded to perform for God, Whose Name is blessed. May the performance of the Mitzvah of tefillin influence me and bestow upon me long life.

Tefillin Mehudarot Kosher by MileChai.com - Tefillin for the head contains the four Biblical passages written on four different pieces of parchment and placed in four separate compartments. In Tefillin for the arm, it is slightly different. The same four passages are written, but consecutively on a single parchment and inserted into a single box. These parchments are known as parashot. Both of the two boxes contain four sections of the Torah inscribed on parchment.

Tefillin Carrier

The Bible tells us: And you shall bind them as a sign on your arm, and they shall be as frontlets on your head between your eyes" (Deuteronomy 6:8.) Though of course the details are much more complex than this.... The Torah tells us in four places that we should bind the Tefillin.

The four place this is mentioned is
 Deut.6:4-9
Deut. 11:13-21
Exodus 13:1-10
and Exodus 13:11-16
Each of these places is a separate chapter in the Torah
