Nancy Sedar Sherman’s
background includes textile fabrication, fashion
design, upholstery, quilting and embroidery. Her
diverse career in textiles has included teaching
computerized digitizing and design, costume design
for theater, and fashion coordinator for an
international button company.
Currently Nancy Sedar Sherman designs and creates
Judaica ritual objects which include Torah Covers,
Arc Curtains, Tallit, Wimples, Ketubot,
challah covers, and
matzah covers. In 1997 Sedar Sherman won the
Grand Prize in an international embroidery
competition for her tallis design of the Old City
in Jerusalem. Her latest tallis design “Stained
Glass Stars” took first place in the 2000 Masters
Division of an international embroidery
competition. The combined prize value of $45,000
dollars for these two awards have made Nancy
Sedar Sherman one of the highest prize winners in
the embroidery industry |
