Yid Vicious
plays traditional klezmer with a dash of
American Country, Phil Spector and 70's lite-rock.
No, they are not especially vicious...but
they do play a mean freylekh! Forverts!
is the Knitting Factory debut of Wisconsin's
premiere klezmer ensemble.
In spite of the name, Yid Vicious plays a
fairly traditional brand of klezmer. They
fuse it with fragments from our individual
musical backgrounds. Klezmer has always
evolved by absorbing elements of the music
around it, consciously or not. The ensemble
includes clarinet, fiddle, trumpet,
saxophones, percussion, guitars, and upright
bass. They play at a variety of venues and
events in Madison, Milwaukee, and
occasionally Chicago, and are available for
weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, anarchist
picnics, clam-bakes, lumberjack
competitions, highland games and other
events. In the spirit of the great Yiddish
newspaper and the motto of their home state,
Yid Vicious, presents sixteen sizzling
klezmer cuts. Forverts! |
