the Library of Congress
Polish-born artist Arthur Szyk
(1894-1951) revived the medieval art of manuscript illumination. The
fourteen illustrations in this calendar are from the Szyk Haggadah
published in 1940 in a 250-copy limited edition. The images are
accompanied by related biblical passages, brief descriptions of the
painting, and comments from the book's introduction by Cecil Roth.
