Chagall 2003
Wall Calendar
A monumental figure in Jewish art and one of the most innovative
artists of the twentieth century, Marc Chagall (Russian,
1887-1985) combined fantasy and nostalgia in works of vibrant
color and stylized abstraction. Many of his paintings bear the
mystical imprint of his family's Hasidism: lovers float through
the air, and fiddlers dance on tiny rooftops. The twelve works
reproduced here are from Russian collections and were exhibited at
The Jewish Museum in New York City. They include Lover in Blue;
Music; View from the Window, on the Ocha; The Promenade; and Jew
in Bright Red.
Because the 2002 edition of this calendar was not available in
general release the 2003 edition features the same reproductions.
