Was born in Germany and trained as
an architect in the famous Bauhaus School in Dessau.
In 1933 he emigrated to Israel and settled in Haifa,
where he lived for 58 years. He was a pioneer
in the new profession of interior design and became
one of Israel's most prominent designers.
Seelig began drawing very early,
publishing cartoons in Berlin newspapers at the age
of fifteen. He continued painting throughout
his professional career as an architect, In
1974, he made painting his full time career.
Exhibitions of Seelig's art have
been held in galleries and museums in Israel, the
United States, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, South
Africa, New Zealand and Japan. One of Israel's
most prolific and respected artists, Heinz Seelig is
particularly well-known for his more than 60
lithographs, including the Book of Esther, The Story
of Paradise and The Seven Days of Creation, and for
three books of his artwork published in Israel.
